The PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) diver course takes around three hours. The lesson will begin with a short review session, followed by the final test.
Yes, diving using nitrox is worthwhile for many divers since it allows for longer bottom stays, shorter surface intervals, and lowers the danger of decompression sickness.
Some divers alternate between air and Nitrox, using air on the initial dive to go deeper and Nitrox later in the day to extend their bottom time. Some people use an air/Nitrox computer to monitor decompression, while others rely just on air tables.
The minimum age to participate is 10 years (Junior EANx certification) or fifteen years (EANx certification). Divers must be in good physical condition to do a NAUI Enriched Air Nitrox Diver course. Participants may be enrolled in a NAUI Scuba Diver Course or hold NAUI Scuba Diver or equivalent certification.
There is one essential risk while diving with Nitrox. It is associated to an increase in oxygen partial pressure (ppO2), which might result in convulsions if limitations are exceeded. We need to understand that oxygen can become harmful at certain pressure levels.
Neither professional diving nor Nitrox diving follow these recommendations: After a single no-decompression dive, a 12-hour pre-flight surface interval is recommended. After numerous no-decompression dives per day or many days of diving, an 18-hour pre-flight surface gap is recommended.
In essence, the 40 Percent Rule states that, if a regulator, cylinder or valve will not be exposed to gas mixtures with an FO2 greater than 40 percent, at pressures greater than regulator intermediate pressure, they need not be O2 clean or service rated.
The PADI eLearning Enriched Air Diver knowledge development takes about three hours to complete. How do you show that you’ve finished the eLearning segment? An eRecord is established to track your knowledge improvement progress.
