Well, not in depth. When done correctly, drift diving is perhaps one of the most relaxing types of diving. Depending on how strong the current is, you may not need to utilize your fins to move forward. This form of diving can be useful in situations where the current is too strong to swim against.
There are fantastic drift dive locations all over the world, and some of them are known for providing the best diving experiences. It is feasible to drift dive in any body of water with a strong enough current to propel you. This encompasses oceans, lakes, and rivers.
The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty Course prepares you to penetrate and explore shipwrecks! Over the course of two days, you will go on four dives, learning about safety, how to chart a wreck, and how to use reels to navigate your way within and uncover secret locations.
The minimum age for PADI Drift Diver is 12, with no prerequisites other than an open water certification
The primary risk is the current; a slip in focus will send you off course. If the water suddenly changes and the current strength increases, you may get swept further than expected and miss the pick-up site. It is entirely possible to become stuck during drift diving if you do not pay attention to your surroundings and the direction the water flows. While all of these risks are serious, with good training and skill, you can avoid them and know what to do if you find yourself in difficulty.
Scuba diving in a current may be both soothing and exciting. You can float slowly over a coral or speed across an underwater environment so quickly that it feels like you’re flying. By the completion of your drift diver course, you’ll have the abilities necessary to confidently move with the flow.
During two dives in a current, you will work on buoyancy management, navigation, and buddy communication. Use a delayed surface marker buoy (DSMB), float, line, reel, or any other drift diving safety equipment.
Total time commitments 1-2 days.
Master Scuba Diver: The most advanced non-professional certification, the Master Scuba Diver level recognizes divers who have completed a variety of specialist courses, exhibiting a wide range of skills and expertise.
